Conservation Officers Melvin Zama and Linold Mada affix metal tags to a hawsbill turtle that's just nested on Kerehikapa Island. The permnanent tags offer a means of monitoring individual turtles. It seems that hawksbills will faithfully return to the same nesting beach every three or four years. During one nesting season they will lay three or four clutches, resting and feeding on nearby reefs between nesting intervals.
